If you enjoy being a part of our participant community, telling a friend about User Interviews is a great way to earn money in between participating in studies. Upon completing a study, your friend earns a referral bonus on top of the study’s incentive, and you also earn a referral bonus for spreading the word. Everyone wins! 🎉
To see all referral programs currently on offer, visit your referral page while logged in. This page will be accessible from the main navigation if the referral program is currently active for your account — simply click on your name at the top right of your screen, and select Referrals from the drop down menu.
There are two ways to refer friends to User Interviews, and both pay a two-way referral bonus:
- Give $10 and earn $10 by referring a friend to join the User Interviews participant community. They can sign up with your referral link and apply for any study they like. If they get selected and successfully complete their first study, you both get paid.
- Give $30 and earn $30 by referring a friend to a featured study that is currently accepting referrals. Refer a friend who will be a good fit for the featured study topic, and if they apply with your referral link, get selected, and successfully complete that specific study, you both get paid.
*Please note that the referral program may not be available for all participants at all times. We reserve the right to suspend the participant referral program at any time.
How to refer a friend to join the User Interviews participant community
You can refer as many friends as you like to join the User Interviews participant community. Every time someone signs up via your unique referral link, applies to, and successfully completes their first study, you will both earn $10.

1. Start by visiting your referral page while logged in.
2. Here you’ll find your personalized referral link. Click the “copy” button and paste your link into a social post, text message, email, or anywhere else. You can also click the email button to open a prefilled email with the link already added. Feel free to customize the message before you hit send.
3. Share your referral link with as many people as you like. Your referrals will be able to sign up for User Interviews directly from your link, and we’ll be able to track their activity back to you.
4. After your referral applies to, is selected for, and successfully completes any study, both you and they earn $10.
How to refer a friend to a featured study that is accepting referrals
We have another referral program for certain in-demand studies. If someone you refer signs up for a User Interviews account and successfully completes the specific study they were referred to, both of you earn $30.

1. Start by visiting the page that lists all studies accepting referrals. This page is also accessible via your referral page.
2. If you know someone who may be a great fit for any of these studies, click the “copy share link” button which generates your unique referral link, and paste it into a social post, text message, email, or anywhere else. You can also click the “send via email” button to open a pre-filled email.
3. Your referral can then sign up for a User Interviews account and apply to the study directly from your link. Note: They need to be signing up for the first time for the referral to count.
4. If they are selected to participate in the study and successfully complete their session, both you and they earn $30.
Other ways to find studies accepting referrals
You may also be prompted to make a referral when you take certain actions on User Interviews. Pages where you might see these prompts include:
- Apply page: The page where you start your application to a study, which lists the study details, incentive, study type, and other important information.
- Notification email: The email you receive inviting you to apply to a study.
- Confirmation page: The page you land on after booking a time slot for a study.
- Confirmation email: The email you receive after booking a time slot for a study.
- Not interested page: The page you land on when you tell us you’re not interested in a study—this is a great opportunity to share the study with someone who may be a better fit.
If you are not seeing a referral link on these pages or emails, it may not be a featured study that is currently accepting referred applicants.

What is the referral bonus amount?
The referral bonus amount depends on the type of referral you’re making.
- If you’re referring someone to join the User Interviews participant community, the referral bonus is $10 to the referrer (you) and $10 to the person you refer (your friend).
- If you’re referring someone to a featured study that is currently accepting referrals, the bonus is $30 to the referrer (you) and $30 to the person you refer (your friend).
We may update these amounts in the future.
Is there a maximum number of people I can refer to User Interviews, or a particular study?
Nope! You may refer as many people as you want to join the User Interviews participant community, or to apply for a featured study.
How does my referral link work?
All referral links are tied to your specific participant ID. We use this unique link to track referral activity, so we can ensure bonuses are paid out when referral criteria has been met.
Who should I refer?
You can refer anyone to join the User Interviews panel! Think about which of your friends, family members, or colleagues would enjoy participating in studies and sharing their experiences and feedback with researchers. Make sure your referral is currently based in one of the countries we support: the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and India.
For referrals to specific occupation-based studies, consider colleagues or those in fields similar to yours. Often, the study title, description, or screener survey may provide some clues as to the type of professional they may be looking for. When in doubt, refer someone like yourself!
Can I refer someone to a study who already has a User Interviews account?
Sure, although they will not count as a referral. To earn the referral bonus, they must be a new signup who completes a study. Since they were not a new signup, their participation would not result in you or them receiving the referral bonus.
However, the more the merrier, so feel free to refer someone who is already signed up with User Interviews if you think they might enjoy participating in the study. We always welcome sharing studies with friends, and they will of course still earn the study incentive.
How will I know if my referral completed the study I referred them to?
We know too many emails can be pesky, so we’ll only notify you once your referral has completed the study and met the referral criteria. That email will include a link to redeem your bonus.
Will you let me know if my referral signed up, applied, or didn’t get into the study?
Since you’re welcome to refer as many people as you like, we don’t want to send updates for each referral at every step. We’ll only email you if someone you referred completes the study and has met the referral criteria.
My referral told me they completed the study—why wasn’t I paid?
There are a few reasons this might occur:
- In the case of an occupation-based study, most likely, the person you referred didn’t complete the specific study you referred them to. The referral must complete the same study you referred them to in order for the referral to count.
- If you've referred multiple fraudulent or suspicious participants, we reserve the right to not pay you the referral bonus and remove you from future referral program eligibility.
- Lastly, sometimes we see participants getting confused between completing the screener survey and participating in the actual study. Please note that a valid referral must apply to the study by taking the screener survey, be selected for the study, schedule themselves for a session, and actually complete the study.
How quickly after my referral completes their session can I expect to be paid my referral bonus?
Bonus payouts will be released automatically when the referral is marked complete for their session. If you do not receive an email with your referral bonus, please contact our support team.
What form of payment is the referral bonus?
The referral bonus is paid out through our incentives provider Tremendous, which gives you the option to choose from 1000+ incentive types (including Amazon and other gift cards, prepaid rewards, and charitable donations) in over 200 countries. At this time, we’re not able to offer alternative forms of payment.
Why don't I have/see a referral page?
