We’re looking for people planning to refinance an existing car loan in the next few weeks who are willing to compare two refinancing companies as part of their real search.
The study runs about two weeks:
Session (about 60 minutes, online, recorded): you’ll check your refinance options on two companies’ websites while sharing your screen and talking us through what you see and think.
Contact log (7 to 10 days): after the session, you’ll record a quick voice note or fill in a short form each time either company calls, texts or emails you: who it was, when, and how it went. Most entries take under a minute.
Wrap-up call (about 20 minutes): you’ll tell us which company you’d choose and why.
About your credit: checking your options involves a credit check by each company. Many refinancing companies use a soft inquiry at this stage, which doesn’t affect your credit score, but practices vary. A company may do a hard inquiry, which can affect your score, if you choose to move forward with an application. We’ll explain this before the session, and you can stop at any time.
Compensation: $100 for the session, up to $150 for keeping the contact log, and $100 for the wrap-up call, up to $350 in total. Payment is for taking part only. You’re never required to take out a loan, and your payment doesn’t depend on whether you refinance or which company you choose.
Your information: For the study we never need your full financial details. If we ask for a screenshot, it will be redacted, and we delete study materials when the study ends.
