Thank you for your interest in this study! If you are the parent or guardian of a teenager who is planning to take the SAT this year, we would love to consider your teen for our study! The purpose of this research is to better understand how students prepare for the SAT and benefit from SAT prep guidance.
This questionnaire is the first step in the screening process. After completing this initial screener, we may reach out to you with a link to an additional survey for both you and your teen to complete. This additional survey will help us determine whether your teen is a good fit for the research study.
If your teen is selected to participate in this research, the study will consist of multiple parts to help them study for the SAT, with the potential for your teen to earn up to $200 in total compensation. This study will consist of multiple parts:
Part 1: Your teen will join one 45-60-minute Zoom session scheduled during the dates of Sept 28-Oct 1 (after school hours), where they will take a condensed SAT practice Math test. Other teens will also be in this session - however they will not be able to see or interact with each other. Only the session host will be able to see each teen's video and all participants will remain anonymous to each other. You will receive $75 in compensation for your teen's participation for this practice test session and will have several opportunities to earn additional compensation in the weeks following your teen's session with us.
Part 2: Your teen would study on their own for the next four weeks, and the research team would check in with them periodically and provide guidance on their studying. In addition, your teen may receive access to an online educational SAT prep tool to assist with their studies.
Part 3: Your teen will join a final 60-minute Zoom session scheduled during the dates of Nov 2-Nov 5 (after school hours), to learn more about their experience with their SAT prep.
Thanks, and we look forward to hearing from you!
