The pressure on UXRs has never been higher.

You need support, education, and connection. You need ways to be effective without just working more, harder, or figuring it out on your own. And sometimes, you just need a little break.

Today, we will identify the obstacles facing UXRs in 2023, listen to stories and lessons learned from professionals across the field, and talk through best practices and techniques for centering ourselves in order to create a healthier environment for the important work of user research.

Join us for a half-day of connection and community as we cover topics such as:
Techniques for wellness and stress management
Reframing the imposter syndrome
Navigating mentorship
Building healthy teams through democratization
Presented by User Interviews, with support from our friends at Sprig and Chameleon.

Welcome Remarks & GoalsWelcome to User Interviews’ YouX!

The pressure on UXRs has never been higher—and they’ve never been more stressed. Companies are hungry for user insights, and that means UXRs are expected to not only deliver data but shoulder the (important) work of democratization and operationalization. And now, somehow, they need to do it all with fewer resources, smaller teams, and uncertain roadmaps.

Today, we will identify the obstacles facing UXRs in 2023, listen to stories and lessons learned from professionals across the field, and talk through best practices and techniques for centering ourselves in order to create a healthier environment for the very important work of user research.

Wellness and UX: Going Beyond the User Experience (Keynote)The research process can be stressful. Balancing user needs and business goals is a unique challenge, and understanding problems from a different perspective takes time. In this session, discover how to put mental wellness at the forefront of your approach: create meaningful and impactful experiences for others, while also creating healthy and long-lasting practices for yourself.

Reframing the Imposter Syndrome (Panel)Imposter syndrome seems especially present in the UX community: there’s always more to discover and with more questions comes more uncertainty. Self doubt can affect anyone despite their experience or skill set, and recent mass layoffs within the industry can bring even more insecurity. Join us for a frank discussion on imposter syndrome—learn how to address it, what to do when imposter syndrome meets real-life failure, and how to pivot from challenges to opportunities.

This session includes a 25-minute small group discussion.

Will You Be My Mentor? (Panel)Your career path in UX is unique - just like you! This can be empowering because opportunities are endless, but it can also be overwhelming. In this panel, we’ll define terms: what is coaching, what is mentoring, what’s the difference? We’ll also hear experiences from both the mentee and mentor perspective, and how to achieve goals on either side of the relationship.

This session includes a live Q&A.
