What is a session?
A session is one completed interview or task with one participant. Number of participants = number of sessions. A session with multiple participants, such as a focus group, counts as multiple sessions.
How do Recruit subscription plans work?
When you sign up for a Recruit subscription, all invoiced sessions will be available to use immediately. If by the end of your billing year you have not used up all your sessions, we’ll automatically roll those over to the next year (if you renew at 80% of the prior year value).
What if I exceed the number of sessions in my plan?
If you go over the sessions included in your plan, you will be charged at the Pay As You Go rate for any additional sessions you complete. If you expect to consistently exceed your session allotment, contact development@userinterviews.com so we can set you up with a subscription plan that better suits your research needs.
Can I cancel or pause my Recruit subscription?

If you cancel your Recruit subscription at the end of your annual contract, you will lose any accrued rollover sessions. At renewal, you can instead pause your plan indefinitely for $50/month and you will be able to use any accrued sessions once you restart your plan. Contact plans@userinterviews.com to cancel or pause your plan.

Are participant incentives included in pricing?

Incentives are not included in the price of Pay As You Go or Recruit subscription plans. However, you can set up a prepaid balance to cover project incentives and share that balance with your team. 

You can determine the incentive type and amount on a project-by-project basis, and choose to distribute incentives yourself, or else have User Interviews automatically distribute incentives on your behalf (a 3% processing fee will be added to the incentive portion of your bill).

How do I choose between Pay As You Go or a subscription?

Pay As You Go is a good choice for those doing one-off research projects, or who have very occasional recruitment needs. 

A Recruit subscription plan is the best choice for those who do ongoing research at any volume or frequency. We have flexible plans that cater to different recruitment needs and offer savings of up to 55%. 

Our subscription plans also include additional features such as a library of past screener surveys (a huge time saver!), the ability to re-invite participants from past studies to new studies, plus customer success support and onboarding.

How do I pay for my Recruit subscription?

By default, plans are billed annually via credit card. To set up invoice payments, contact plans@userinterviews.com.

How do I pay for my Pay As You Go projects?

You can pay by credit or debit card. You will be prompted to enter billing details when launching your project. Save cards for later, and pay for different studies with different cards if you'd like.

Where can I learn more about your participant audience?

Explore audiences you can recruit from our panel by downloading the User Interviews Panel Report. Our network includes over 4 million participants from the U.S., Canada, Australia, U.K., France, Germany, South Africa, and India, and we are actively running pilots in new markets.

How do you grow your panel and maintain quality?

We do the work of building a high-quality, trustworthy panel so researchers always have a fresh pool of candidates for their studies. Our panel is 100% proprietary. We never buy audiences or source participants from third party panels. Our monthly panel growth rate is around 5%.

Word-of-mouth and social channels make up 79% of our panel acquisition. This category includes social media, influencer networks, and referrals from existing participants and researchers.

We also actively invest in niche markets through sponsorships, social outreach, targeted advertising, influencer campaigns, and industry-specific blogs and publications. We prioritize recruitment of niche markets based on researcher demand—meaning, if you need them, we’ll try to find them.

How do I know if you can source my target audience?

Today, we have over 4 million participants in our panel, representing a diverse group of people. We are confident that we can recruit for most studies, even the niche ones!

The best way to check the feasibility of your recruit is to launch a project. It only takes about 5 minutes, and you only pay once sessions are complete (no money upfront!) so it’s the best and easiest way to gauge feasibility. Our median time to your first qualified participant is under an hour, meaning you could get a real sense of our ability to recruit for your specific persona within a day.

Do I need to pay incentives to participants?

Participants are contributing valuable insights and deserve to be compensated for their time and effort. Offering fair research incentives will help you get a good response rate and encourage high quality participation.

Luckily, we make it easy to compensate participants with built-in incentive distribution, endless reward options, and automatic currency conversion in over 200 countries. What kinds of research studies can I recruit for?

User Interviews supports recruiting for any kind of research! You can find participants for any type of study including moderated interviews, usability tests, surveys, and more. With our growing suite of integrations, we’re compatible with any testing tool or research method.

Is User Interviews a recruitment agency?

We are not a recruitment agency. We are a platform you can use to source targeted participants, set up a screener survey, schedule sessions, and pay out incentives. Our team is here to assist, but we do not create or manage your project. 

Using user research recruitment agencies can be a viable solution for your user research needs, but it’s not the only option. Some situations when you might turn to a user recruitment agency include: when you’re conducting research in unfamiliar markets and you need an agency with specialized knowledge; or, when you’re running a very niche study that requires hyper-manual legwork to pinpoint a small population; or, if you have the budget and you just want a team of recruiters on call who will take care of your recruit from end-to-end.

However, recruiting agencies are often not the best option. If you want to get started quickly, work within a limited budget, or have more control over participant selection, working with an agency may not be viable. You may prefer to try a recruitment platform like User Interviews that can provide fast, high-quality, targeted recruitment at an affordable and transparent price.

What are seats?

Seats refer to user licenses for individuals who need access to User Interviews. For example, our Hub Workflow plan starts at three seats. This means that up to three team members can run research through User Interviews. Contact Sales if you need to purchase more seats. 

Hub CRM plans come with unlimited seats.

What are collaborators?

Collaborators are individuals who are given view or edit access to a specific project. Depending on their access level, they do have some permissions to view or edit those projects. However, collaborators cannot launch projects of their own. 

All of our plans come with unlimited collaborators, so you can involve stakeholders throughout the research process.

What are contacts?

Contacts are members of your own participant panel that you are storing in your Research Hub CRM. They are added to your CRM through CSV upload, through a data integration, or by signing up via a panel opt-in form.

What is the difference between the Workflow plan and the CRM plan?

All Research Hub plans help teams to run research with their own users.

The Workflow plan gives you access to automations that make it fast and easy to invite users to studies, screen and schedule sessions, communicate and track participation, and pay out incentives. You also get access to customizations such as branding and templates, custom domains and sender profiles, and a data consent notice.

With the CRM plan, you get all of the automations and customizations included in the Workflow plan, plus a CRM to build and manage your own panel. You can add users to your panel through CSV upload, data integrations, and opt-in forms, then create segments and set up guardrails for easy recruitment.

Are participant incentives included in pricing?

Incentives are not included in the price of Research Hub plans. However, you can set up a prepaid balance to cover project incentives and share that balance with your team. You can determine the incentive type and amount on a project-by-project basis, and choose to distribute incentives yourself, or else have User Interviews automatically distribute incentives on your behalf (a 3% processing fee will be added to the incentive portion of your bill).

How do I pay for my Research Hub plan?

By default, plans are billed annually via credit card. To set up invoice payments, contact plans@userinterviews.com.

My company requires a security review and/or needs to edit contract terms—can you help?

What is a Research CRM?

Will Research Hub work with our existing tools?

Yes! Research Hub is compatible with any research tool or method. We have direct integrations with many popular research tools such as Zoom, Google Meet, Lookback, Sprig, Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, and more, that make task tracking across tools a breeze. And if you’re using a different survey or testing tool, we’ve got you covered with the ability to manually add a task link to any project.

Our CRM plan also comes with data integrations and an API, so you send data from just about any system into Hub.

What kinds of customizations do you offer?

While you can use Research Hub right out of the box, we recommend spending a bit of time setting up customizations that will make running research with your users more professional and effective.

You can customize your brand and brand voice everywhere—upload a logo, create email themes, set up templates, and configure your custom domain and sender profiles. We also recommend creating custom data consent and privacy notices for good research governance.

If you have a CRM plan, you will have access to panel management features that can be customized to suit any research practice. Set permissions on panel access, mask PII, create user segments, customize your view of the panel, and set up invite rules. Taking these steps will ensure standardization across recruitment efforts as you scale research across the team.
