When building your study, you have two options for distributing incentives to participants:

  1. User Interviews can automatically distribute incentives for your team
  2. Your team can manually distribute incentives

What currencies and incentive types are available to distribute to participants?

For Recruit projects, we support participant audiences in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, South Africa, and India.
For Hub projects, incentives are available in every country supported by our incentives provider, Tremendous. We’ll also be offering all prepaid, gift card, and donation options from their catalog (with the exception of cash incentives and direct payment transfers, such as PayPal). 📫 If your team is manually distributing the incentives...

You can choose which incentive types to offer participants. Popular payments include Paypal, cash, check, a Visa gift card, and store gift cards. Incentives are always shown in USD on User Interviews. If you’re distributing incentives outside of the US, please be sure to distribute the equivalent value of the incentive to each participant in their local currency.

If User Interviews is distributing incentives...

When you opt to have User Interviews distribute incentives for your team, participants are able to choose from select rewards and currencies when they redeem their incentive after a completed session.

Tremendous is an incentives provider, which gives participants the option to choose from 1000+ incentive types (including Amazon and other gift cards, cash rewards, and charitable donations) in over 200 countries. 

  • For Recruit projects, we support participant audiences in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, South Africa, and India.
  • For Hub projects, incentives are available in every country supported by our incentives provider, Tremendous. We’ll also be offering all prepaid, gift card, and donation options from their catalog (with the exception of cash incentives and direct payment transfers, such as through PayPal). What currency options are available for automatic distribution?

Participants will see the incentive in USD when they apply to the study but can redeem the incentive in local currencies for US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, South Africa, and India, and any of the currencies supported by Tremendous for Hub projects (with the exception of cash incentives and direct payment transfers such as PayPal). We automatically convert the payment so participants receive their incentive in the correct amount relative to the currency they select.

If my team is distributing the incentives...

What incentives can I offer participants? 

The choice is yours! Popular payments include PayPal, cash, check, a Visa gift card, and store gift cards.

What currency can I offer to pay incentives in?

Incentives are always shown in USD on User Interviews. If your team is distributing incentives and recruiting outside of the US, please be sure to distribute the equivalent value of the incentive to each participant in their local currency.

FAQ

Do you support cash incentives and direct payment transfers such as PayPal?

No. When you choose automatic distribution through User Interviews, cash options like PayPal, Venmo, Bank Transfer, and the physical pre-paid VISA are excluded from available currency types. Otherwise we offer all digital pre-paid, gift card, and charitable donation options.

What is the participant's incentive redemption experience when UI distributes? 

When you mark a participant's session as complete, the participant will be sent an email with a button prompt to redeem their incentive. Participants can access their incentives redemption link via their email or from their “My Studies” page. Learn more in our participant incentive experience support guide.

Can I change the incentive amount, type, or who distributes the incentive after I launch my project?

It depends! You can email projects@userinterviews.com and your project coordinator can make incentive updates for you. Please note that in order to maintain a fair participant experience, we may not be able to make updates if participants are already confirmed.

Once participants are confirmed, we can only update the incentive type or who distributes the incentive if the same or equivalent incentive is offered. For example, we cannot change a PayPal incentive to a Target gift card, or change a UI distributed incentive to a manually issued incentive unless you're also offering an option of dozens of digital gift cards. The exception is if all confirmed participants have agreed to this update.
