“We set up the accessibility panel with User Interviews that would allow us to quickly recruit Atlassian customers who use assistive technology and adaptive strategies. The User Interviews panel played a crucial role in the success of that.”

FAQs

Is User Interviews an approved vendor for government agencies?

Yes! User Interviews is an approved NASPO vendor, which means state and local government agencies, universities, and other public institutions can easily purchase User Interviews under existing cooperative purchasing terms. This means you can purchase our services under pre-negotiated, competitive terms, helping your team get started without jumping through additional hoops.

If you’re unsure about your eligibility, our team can walk you through the procurement process. We’re experienced in working with government buyers and happy to provide any required documentation, including security overviews, contracts, and data privacy policies to keep procurement moving smoothly.

Can I recruit the general public for civic or policy research?

Absolutely. Our 6 million+ participant panel includes diverse, real-world voices from across the U.S. and around the world. We support recruitment in 34 countries and all 50 U.S. states. You can recruit participants by age, income, geography, education, language, accessibility needs, and many more demographic criteria. Whether you're seeking homeowners, small business owners, community college students, Medicaid recipients, or city residents, our filters make it easy to reach the right audience.

Need public feedback on proposed policy changes, signage, or service flows? You can collect both qualitative and quantitative data through interviews, surveys, or unmoderated tasks – remotely, or in-person.

Do you offer recruiting for accessibility and inclusive design?

Yes, accessibility testing is a common use case for government research teams. You can filter our panel by participants with visual, auditory, cognitive, or physical disabilities, and specify tools or accommodations they use. Whether you’re evaluating a website’s screen reader compatibility or testing a mobile app’s navigation with a neurodiverse audience, we help ensure your research reflects the full spectrum of user needs.

We also provide custom screeners to help you further refine your recruitment and get feedback from the right people – because accessible services start with inclusive research.

Is User Interviews secure enough for public sector use?

Yes. Security and governance are built into everything we do. User Interviews meets strict data protection standards and offers documentation for compliance reviews and internal approval processes. We maintain government-grade safeguards including encrypted data transmission, secure storage, PII masking, and customizable consent flows.

As a NASPO-approved vendor, we also offer procurement documentation to meet your agency’s legal and security requirements. You can manage participant privacy, incentives, and communication directly from our platform, helping you conduct research without risking data integrity or public trust.

What kinds of public sector studies can I run?

Public sector researchers use User Interviews for a wide range of projects from usability testing of government apps, to message testing for public service campaigns, to accessibility research with disabled people. Common study types include moderated interviews, remote usability tests, unmoderated tasks, card sorts, surveys, diary studies, and more.

Whether you’re designing digital government services or gathering input for policy decisions, our flexible recruiting tools help you test, iterate, and learn. With fast turnaround times, secure workflows, and a trusted participant panel, it’s easier than ever to run inclusive, impactful government research at scale.

Can I bring my own list of participants?

Yes! You can upload and manage your own panel through our Research Hub. If your agency already has a list of residents, applicants, or service users, you can use our platform to invite them to studies, track participation, manage incentives, and more. We provide powerful tools for panel building, segmentation, contact frequency, and participant communication.

Your participants remain private to you, and our consent and compliance features help ensure everything stays secure and audit-ready. Whether you're running hybrid research or panel-only studies, User Interviews makes it easy to stay organized.

How does incentive payment work for public participants?

User Interviews can handle incentive payments on your behalf, so your team doesn’t need to process individual checks, gift cards, or reimbursements. When you choose automatic incentive distribution, your participants will receive redemption emails with a link to all their reward options after they complete research with you.

We support payments in over 200 counties and participants can choose from a wide range of incentives including prepaid cards, gift cards to hundreds of retailers, and even charitable donations. For your participants, we also support tax reporting and documentation for incentives earned.

Ready to simplify civic research?

We make it easy to recruit real research participants for government services, public programs, and policy testing.
