I'm confirmed for a study, but need to cancel. What should I do?

We get it—life happens! If you can no longer attend or participate in a study you've been confirmed for, all we ask is that you provide us with as much advanced notice as possible.

We require at least 36 hours notice for any cancelations to avoid a penalty or disqualification from participating in future studies.

Canceling Your Confirmed Spot

There are a few ways to cancel your spot in a study. We've listed them below in order preference to ensure a smooth cancelation process.

Message the Researcher

This option is ideal because you can give us and the researcher as much notice as possible. You should follow the steps below as soon as you know you can no longer participate.

  • Log in to your account.
  • In the top righthand corner, click "Messages".
  • You'll be taken to our messaging tool which directly connects participants with researchers. You'll only be able to message researchers of active studies you are a part of.
  • Select the project from which you need to cancel from the drop-down list.
  • Send the word "Unavailable"—that's it. You'll be automatically removed from the study and the researcher will receive your message with a cancelation alert.

Reply to Reminder Texts

This option should be used when necessary, but is considered a late or last-minute cancelation. The instructions below are also outlined in your reminder text for reference.

  • You'll receive an automated reminder text message from us reminding you about your upcoming session 24 hours before the start time.
  • If you reply "No", you'll be automatically removed from the study and the researcher will receive your message with a cancelation alert.
